Three Things You Didnt Know Kai Hibbard went Through On The Biggest Loser
Imagine being a 26-year-old woman who stands just over 5-and-a-half feet tall and weighs more than most men. At more than 265 pounds, that’s exactly what life looked like for Kai Hibbard. She was miserable, unhappy and she couldn’t believe she’d let her life get to this point. It was 2006 when she made the decision to change her life for good. Her best friend told her she was fat and needed help. It sounds harsh, and it probably was pretty harsh, but it was what the young woman needed to hear. Her friend didn’t want to lose her to her health problems, so she encouraged her to do something about her weight. It was then that Kai Hibbard decided to submit a tape to try out for The Biggest Loser. She participated in the show and lost 121 pounds and now she’s speaking out about the things that people don’t know about the show. If you remember her from her time on the show, you might not know what she went through when competing.
She Ate Fewer than 1000 Calories Per Day
Even though this is far less than a healthy amount of calories for just about anyone, production people on the show made the contestants eat so little so they could lose weight. Their numbers wouldn’t go up if their contestants didn’t lose weight. Sometimes Hibbard had fewer than 400 calories a day.
She Exercised Hours a Day
Most people exercise an hour or two a day and consider that a long day. Hibbard remembers having to work out – hardcore – for more than 8 or 9 hours a day with as little as three hours sleep at a time throughout the night. She said that medical doctors would tell the contestants they needed to rest, but their trainers would not allow it.
Trainers Were Mean
Hibbard said that those trainers that look so caring and loving about the contestants on the show were actually not. They said hateful things and mean things, they even told their contestants they’d already picked up fat-people coffins for them because they were going to die.
